Hong Kong’s nightlife scene is once again buzzing with activity as the May long weekend arrives, offering residents and visitors a string of exciting events and guest shifts across the city’s most beloved bars. Just like during the Easter festivities, bars are pulling out all the stops to make this extended break a memorable one.
The weekend begins on Friday, 2 May, at Terrible Baby in Jordan, where the bar teams up with New York’s 929 to bring Cantopop and Mandopop-inspired cocktails to Kowloon. 929’s mixology approach pays homage to nostalgic Asian pop hits with drinks that combine creativity and cultural resonance. Guests can sip on the Sleepless Night, a unique take on a Manhattan with Ceylon infusion and milk foam, inspired by Leslie Cheung’s 1987 classic. Another highlight is Love is Like A Bad Cold, a playful and soothing cocktail made with ginger-infused whisky and Nin Jiom herbal syrup, echoing the energy of Taiwanese singer Yuki Hsu. The event runs from 9pm to midnight and promises to set the tone for a festive weekend.
On Saturday, 3 May, Mostly Harmless in Sai Ying Pun takes a bold step with its fully non-alcoholic cocktail menu. The bar recently shifted its identity entirely, focusing on zero-proof creations that offer full flavor without the buzz. As part of its ongoing “Sazerac Sundays Zero” series, Mostly Harmless invites guest bartenders to contribute their own alcohol-free concoctions. Though typically held on Sundays, this week’s event features Coa stepping behind the bar on Saturday evening, delivering refreshing drinks from 5pm to 8pm that demonstrate just how elevated non-alcoholic beverages can be.
Sunday, 4 May, brings culinary and cocktail synergy to Bourke’s, where Singapore’s renowned Neon Pigeon makes a guest appearance. Known for its izakaya-style small plates and vibrant Japanese-influenced drinks, Neon Pigeon is set to infuse Bourke’s with a burst of bold flavors and edgy nightlife vibes. This collaboration offers an exciting blend of tastes perfect for winding down the weekend in style.
Whether you’re in the mood for pop-themed cocktails, non-alcoholic innovation, or izakaya-inspired delights, Hong Kong’s bars have your long weekend covered with a curated lineup that caters to every palate.
