A significant development in media collaboration unfolded between China and Vietnam on Monday, with the launch of a new prime-time news program aimed at bolstering mutual understanding and cooperation. Titled “China and Vietnam Connection,” this initiative marks the first international cooperation program to be broadcast on Vietnam’s national television, symbolizing a new era in the media partnership between the two countries.
The program is scheduled to air in the Vietnamese language from Monday to Saturday on the VTC10 channel. Its content is tailored to cover a range of topics including current news in China, as well as various aspects of China-Vietnam cooperation. This includes updates and developments in business, culture, education, and tourism, offering viewers in Vietnam a comprehensive perspective on their neighboring country.
The launch ceremony, held in Vietnam’s capital city, Hanoi, was a momentous occasion, reflecting the strengthening ties between the two nations. Shen Haixiong, president of China Media Group (CMG), participated in the ceremony via video link. In his address, he emphasized the role of the media in witnessing and promoting the friendship between China and Vietnam. Shen advocated for increased communication and storytelling between media outlets in the two countries, underlining the importance of media as a tool for fostering international relations.
The timing of the program’s launch, just ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping‘s visit to Vietnam, was noted by Tien Sy Do, a member of the Party Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and president of Voice of Vietnam. In his letter to the ceremony, Do highlighted the significance of the program in providing rich content that showcases the breadth and depth of cooperation between China and Vietnam.
“China and Vietnam Connection” represents a strategic effort to enhance bilateral relations through the power of media. By providing a platform for sharing news and information, the program aims to increase understanding and appreciation between the peoples of China and Vietnam. It is a testament to the role of media in bridging cultural and political divides, facilitating dialogue, and building strong international partnerships.
The new program is expected to play a crucial role in not only keeping the public informed about the latest developments in both countries but also in highlighting the collaborative efforts and shared interests of China and Vietnam. This media partnership is a significant step towards nurturing a positive relationship between the two countries, leveraging the influence of television to connect and inform audiences across borders.
As “China and Vietnam Connection” takes its place in the prime-time slot on Vietnamese television, it opens a new chapter in the media landscape of the region. It stands as a model for how international cooperation in the media sector can serve as a powerful conduit for cultural exchange, mutual understanding, and cooperative development.
