In a recent conversation between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, the leaders reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the just cause of Palestine. They expressed their dedication to returning the Palestinian question to the path of the “two-state solution” in order to achieve a comprehensive, just, and lasting resolution to the ongoing conflict. Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized the importance of opposing actions that harm civilians, as they not only violate the basic principles of human conscience but also international law.

China’s Position on Israel’s Actions

Minister Wang Yi’s statements underscored China’s stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict. He noted that Israel’s actions had exceeded the boundaries of self-defense and urged the country to heed the calls of the international community, as well as the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General, to cease the punitive measures against the people of Gaza. Wang Yi called upon all involved parties to refrain from actions that could escalate tensions and instead return to the negotiation table. He mentioned that China is actively engaged in communication with all relevant parties to promote a ceasefire.

Prioritizing the Safety of Civilians

Wang Yi emphasized that the primary concern is the safety of civilians. He urged immediate efforts to establish humanitarian relief channels, ensuring that the basic needs of the people of Gaza are met. Stressing the significance of global solidarity in addressing the conflict, Wang Yi urged peace-loving nations to unite in advocating for justice and the swift implementation of the “two-state solution.”

Saudi Arabia’s Perspective on the Conflict

Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud also expressed deep concern over the current situation. He strongly condemned any actions that harm civilians and opposed Israel’s forced relocation of Gaza residents. Al Saud stressed the urgency of delivering humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza and called upon the international community to collaborate in preventing the conflict from spreading to neighboring countries.

UN Security Council Resolutions and a Just Resolution

The Saudi side highlighted the importance of implementing relevant UN Security Council resolutions for a just and enduring resolution to the Palestinian question. Al Saud emphasized that without the implementation of these resolutions, a fair and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue would remain elusive.

Collaboration for Peace and Stability

Recognizing China’s pivotal role in promoting global peace and stability, the Saudi foreign minister pledged to work closely with China. Together, they aim to encourage all parties involved to adhere to international humanitarian law, safeguard civilians from harm, and execute the pertinent Security Council resolutions regarding the Palestinian question.
