Raja Randhir Singh Praises Hangzhou Asian Games Preparations and Facilities
In a recent news conference, Raja Randhir Singh, the acting president of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), conveyed his immense satisfaction and confidence regarding the preparations and facilities made available for the highly anticipated Hangzhou Asian Games.
The OCA’s Pride and Honor
Raja Randhir Singh shared that the officials from the OCA are filled with a sense of honor and pride towards the upcoming Games. He reflected on the feeling among the members, “There’s a palpable excitement in the air, not just among the athletes, but even among the officials, volunteers, and everyone involved.”
Highlighting the meticulous efforts that went into the preparations, Singh said, “When we walk around the media center or explore the facilities extended to us, it’s evident that no stone has been left unturned. The athletes’ village is nothing short of splendid, ensuring that the participants feel at home while they gear up for their respective events.”
The attention to detail and the overall ambiance of the facilities drew admiration from Singh, who added, “It’s truly a delight to experience such convenience. Everything is in its place, and we are all eager to see the Games kick off.”

Chen Weiqiang, the Executive Secretary of the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee (HAGOC) and the primary spokesperson for the Games, provided insights into the magnitude of the event. “The Hangzhou Asian Games is not just another edition. It’s a game-changer, showcasing the most events and offering the broadest coverage ever witnessed in its history,” Chen emphasized.
With a tone of both pride and acknowledgment of the arduous journey, Chen opened up about the challenges faced. “Organizing such a mammoth event, one that surpasses the complexity of its predecessors wasn’t without its hurdles. The HAGOC team, however, took every challenge head-on, ensuring that the Games’ stature remains unparalleled.”
A testament to the global attention and the importance of the Hangzhou Asian Games is the massive media turnout. Over 10,000 media personnel will descend on Hangzhou, focusing their lenses and pens on capturing every moment.

Chen also teased details about the opening ceremony. Scheduled to commence at 8 pm on Saturday, he promised it would be “a spectacle that embodies the essence of excitement.” Elaborating on the theme “Tide of Asia,” Chen shared that it encapsulates the rich cultural amalgamation of China, Asia, and indeed the entire world in today’s era.
“Expect to be taken on a journey showcasing the unity, deep-rooted friendship, and the shared love among the Asian populace. Our goal is for every viewer to feel the spirit and ethos of the Asian Games,” Chen stated.
He also stressed that the Asian Games isn’t just a sports event. “It’s a symphony of human connection, communication, science, and technology,” he said, emphasizing the multifaceted nature of the Games.
Wei Jizhong’s Vision for the Games
Adding to the conversation, Wei Jizhong, OCA Honorary Life Vice President, termed the Hangzhou Asian Games as “open, bigger, and harmonious.”
Wei threw light on the OCA’s vision, saying, “Our ultimate aim is to propagate sports across Asia. We aspire to witness a more inclusive Asian Games, where athletes from an increasing number of countries and regions participate.”
Recalling the previous edition of the Games, Wei expressed his joy over the success and impact. “Over 80% of the participating delegations clinched medals. This not only thrilled the citizens of these countries but also elevated the stature of sports within their societies.”
Wei further emphasized the inclusive nature of the Games. “While we celebrate elite athletes, it’s essential to cater to other participants and sports enthusiasts. They are the heart of this event.”
He also touched upon the impressive figures related to the Games. “The Hangzhou Asian Games boasts of 40 sports and 481 events. With over 30,000 registrants, it has surpassed even the Olympics, making it a landmark event in the sporting world.”
