BusinessUshio Illuminates Future by Acquiring OSRAM's Entertainment and Industry Business

Ushio Inc. has successfully finalized its acquisition of the OSRAM Entertainment and Industry (ENI) business, marking a significant expansion for the Japanese lighting solutions provider. As of March 2, 2026, the acquired entity now operates globally under the new name Ushio Industry & Entertainment (Ushio INE GmbH), integrating into the Ushio Group.

The acquisition significantly bolsters Ushio’s global standing in the specialty lighting market. It broadens the company’s capabilities across key sectors including entertainment, cinema projection, stage lighting, industrial applications, and high-performance professional solutions. The integration combines Ushio’s established technological expertise and manufacturing prowess with the deep industry knowledge, customer relationships, and application insights of the former OSRAM ENI team.

Marko Haas, General Manager of Business Division of Ushio Industry & Entertainment, emphasized the commitment to a seamless transition. “Our priority throughout this transition has been continuity,” Haas stated. Customers will continue to be supported by their existing commercial and technical contacts, with current product portfolios and services remaining available. This approach ensures no disruption to ongoing operations or supply commitments, fostering confidence among clients worldwide.

For ams OSRAM, this divestiture is a strategic move to streamline its portfolio and focus resources on its core semiconductor technologies, sensing platforms, and digital photonics. The sale, valued at €114 million on a cash and debt-free basis, is part of ams OSRAM’s broader balance sheet deleveraging strategy. This includes reducing debt and optimizing its financial structure to prioritize high-growth, technology-driven light and sensor solutions over traditional lamp operations.

Ushio Industry & Entertainment is poised for future growth, leveraging the combined strengths of both organizations. The company will continue to serve global customers in the professional entertainment, cinema, and industrial lighting sectors, with a continued focus on product excellence, application expertise, and long-term partnerships. Further details regarding Ushio Industry & Entertainment and its future developments are expected in the coming months.
