Heavy metal pioneers Black Sabbath will reunite in their original lineup for a one-night-only concert on July 5 at Villa Park in Birmingham, England. This marks the first time in 20 years that Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward will perform together, making it an unforgettable event for fans of the genre.
The legendary band, known for defining heavy metal with classics like War Pigs, Paranoid, and Iron Man, last performed as a full group in 2005. While partial reunions have taken place over the years, this will be the first time all four founding members share the stage again.
Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy’s wife and manager, confirmed that while other members may continue performing, this show will be the 76-year-old frontman’s final appearance. She emphasized that Ozzy is grateful for the chance to perform one last time in his hometown.
“For Ozzy, this is his way of saying, ‘I love you and good night,’” she stated.
Osbourne, who revealed his Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2020, has continued to release music, including a Grammy-winning album. However, his live performances have been rare in recent years. Sharon assured fans that he is in good spirits, feeling energized and excited about the upcoming event. The concert, titled “Back to the Beginning,” will be more than just a farewell—it will be a massive celebration of heavy metal’s roots. Black Sabbath will headline a lineup of rock and metal icons, including Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Alice in Chains, Lamb Of God, and Anthrax.
Proceeds from the event will go to charities, including Cure Parkinson’s, supporting those affected by the disease.
Reflecting on the significance of the event, Ozzy shared his gratitude:
“It’s time for me to give back to the place where I was born. How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love? Birmingham is the true home of metal.”
Tickets for “Back to the Beginning” go on sale February 14 and are expected to sell out quickly. Fans won’t want to miss this historic farewell from one of rock’s greatest legends.
