Beyonce officially launched her highly anticipated “Cowboy Carter” stadium tour on Monday night with a vibrant and theatrical performance at SoFi Stadium near Los Angeles. Blending her signature showmanship with country-inspired aesthetics, she captivated the audience with nearly three hours of music, visuals, and deeply personal moments shared with her daughters.
The show opened with “Ameriican Requiem,” featuring Beyonce dressed in an all-white cowboy ensemble, complete with dramatic fringe, while red-clad dancers created an electrifying contrast around her. She embraced the country theme throughout the night, paying homage to classic and modern styles. During her rendition of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene,” she sat on an illuminated floating horseshoe suspended above the crowd. For “Tyrant,” she mounted a golden mechanical bull, and in one of the night’s most visually striking moments, she soared through the stadium in a red car holding an American flag while performing “16 Carriages.”
Her 13-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter joined the performance, showcasing her growing stage presence. Blue appeared in multiple numbers such as “Ya Ya” and “America Has a Problem,” leading a confident strut and hair flip during “Deja Vu” that drew loud cheers from the audience. Beyonce’s seven-year-old daughter Rumi Carter also made a heartwarming appearance during the lullaby “Protector.” Waving sweetly to the crowd, she embraced her mother in a tender moment that added a deeply emotional touch to the night.
“Cowboy Carter” has already garnered significant acclaim, earning Beyonce her first Grammy Award for Album of the Year in February. The album has been praised for highlighting the often-overlooked contributions of Black Americans to country music and redefining genre boundaries. During the concert, Beyonce took a moment to acknowledge this legacy. “I want to thank all of those who came before me that allowed me to be on this stage today,” she told the crowd. “Thank you for allowing me the creative liberty to challenge myself.”
In addition to the country tracks, Beyonce thrilled fans with past hits like “Formation,” “Cuff It,” and “Crazy in Love.” The crowd embraced the cowboy aesthetic, donning boots, hats, and rhinestones in celebration. Before closing the show with “Amen,” Beyonce expressed her gratitude to the audience, saying simply, “I feel so overwhelmed.” The tour is scheduled to continue across the U.S. and Europe through July.
