Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s Pay Surge Reflects Company’s Massive Growth

BusinessNvidia CEO Jensen Huang's Pay Surge Reflects Company’s Massive Growth

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, who has amassed billions from his stake in the company, is seeing his first salary increase in a decade. According to a proxy filing with the SEC, Huang’s base salary has risen to $1.5 million, marking a 49% increase from the previous year. His variable cash compensation also saw a 50% rise, jumping by $1 million from the 2024 fiscal year. In total, Huang’s pay package for the 2025 fiscal year amounts to $49.9 million, with stock awards contributing $38.8 million to the overall sum.

The compensation committee cited internal pay equity as the primary reason for this increase, ensuring that Huang’s base salary aligns with other top executives in the company. This represents Huang’s first salary boost in ten years, a reflection of his long tenure and the company’s remarkable growth during that period.

Nvidia has experienced significant success, becoming one of the most valuable companies globally. This surge in value is largely attributed to the company’s graphics processing units (GPUs), which are critical for powering the most advanced artificial intelligence models and workloads. In February, Nvidia reported a staggering 114% increase in revenue for the 2025 fiscal year, reaching $130.5 billion. Over the course of 2023, Nvidia’s stock price soared more than ninefold, boosting Huang’s net worth significantly. His 3.5% stake in the company is currently valued at approximately $94 billion.

In addition to his salary and stock compensation, Huang’s 2025 pay package includes $3.5 million for residential security and consultation services, as well as driver services. This marks an increase from the previous year, where his security and consultation fees amounted to $2.2 million.

Meanwhile, other tech giants are also spending considerable sums on executive protection. For example, Google’s filing revealed that CEO Sundar Pichai’s personal security and travel expenses amounted to $8.27 million, representing a 22% increase from the year before. Huang’s pay package underscores both Nvidia’s success and the growing demands of executive compensation in the tech industry.
