Husky Becomes Internet Star by Transporting Luggage for Guests at Homestay

LifestyleHusky Becomes Internet Star by Transporting Luggage for Guests at Homestay

A Husky dog in China has risen to fame for its unique role in helping guests transport their luggage at a homestay hotel. Known as Hakimi, the dog has become an internet sensation, attracting numerous visitors and generating significant revenue for the business. The homestay, located in the popular tourist city of Lijiang in Yunnan province, is owned by Xu, who raised Hakimi from a young age.

Hakimi’s journey to becoming a four-legged porter began when Xu, who owns a homestay with nine rooms, decided to have the dog try pulling a trolley during an outing in April. To his surprise, the Husky quickly picked up the task. Despite no formal training, Hakimi began transporting luggage with ease, initially bumping into people and occasionally tipping over the trolley, but improving with time. The dog has since mastered the task and now performs it regularly with great enthusiasm.

Hakimi’s working route is short, covering only about 200 meters from the South Gate of Lijiang Old Town to the homestay. The dog transports luggage only when guests request the service, and it typically makes three to six trips a day. Around 80 percent of guests come specifically for the experience of having Hakimi carry their luggage. The dog has proven to be a draw for the homestay, not only with its adorable presence but also as a living advertisement that has helped boost the homestay’s popularity.

What started as a fun idea shared by Xu on social media soon turned into a viral sensation. Videos of Hakimi in action, transporting luggage, began gaining millions of views online. Each video quickly attracted between one and ten million views, making Hakimi a key figure in the homestay’s marketing efforts. In just three days, the videos helped generate 200,000 yuan (approximately $27,000) in revenue.

The Husky’s intelligence and playful nature have endeared it to many, with Chinese netizens praising its abilities. Some have even marveled at how Hakimi turns corners with precision, using inertia to position the trolley and prevent crashes when going downhill. One observer commented, “The Husky’s ancestors must have been something special to produce such a talented dog!” Hakimi’s rise to fame highlights the growing trend of pets becoming social media stars and helping businesses attract attention in creative ways.
