Amidst the vibrant ambiance of Beijing on Monday, the curtains rose to unveil the eagerly anticipated 8th Chile Week. The opening ceremony witnessed a gathering of approximately 200 attendees, encompassing a diverse spectrum from both nations—Chinese and Chilean. Present were representatives from prominent associations, key stakeholders from the importing and exporting domain, and members of the media who chronicled this cultural and business confluence.
Following the grand inauguration, the focus shifted to the annual China-Chile Business Council Meeting. It was here that the President of Chile, Gabriel Boric, shared his vision and aspirations for the future collaborations between the two nations. He emphasized the need for fostering deeper understanding and enhancing channels of communication between the business communities of both countries. Encouraging Chinese enterprises to explore the vast Chilean landscape, President Boric expressed hope that more of them would venture into Chile, not just to seek business opportunities but also to invest, thus weaving an intricate web of economic partnership.
A salient feature of the Beijing chapter of Chile Week was its innovative approach to participation, which blended both online and offline modalities. While the event had its traditional physical format, with various Chilean enterprises proudly showcasing their top-tier products, there was a parallel digital dimension too. This was particularly evident during the business networking “encuentro,” where attendees got an up-close look at what Chilean businesses had to offer.
The event’s digital outreach extended further. Through a livestream on Douyin, Chile Week took advantage of modern e-commerce trends by hosting a live special sale. This was an inclusive move, ensuring that those unable to attend the event in person could still experience a slice of Chile, right from the comfort of their homes, by purchasing authentic Chilean goods.
Chile Week isn’t just a commercial event; it’s a cultural bridge. Annually, it offers a stage where China and Chile can interact, exchange ideas, and strengthen bilateral ties across myriad sectors. Whether it’s the fresh produce of agribusiness, the richness of seafood, the robustness of mining, or the innovation in energy, Chile Week epitomizes the spirit of collaboration between the two nations.
This year’s Chile Week commenced its journey in Shenzhen on October 14. The relay was then passed on to Chengdu on October 15, leading up to its grand showcase in Shanghai, which spanned two eventful days from Thursday to Friday. As this week unfolded, it promised to leave behind a legacy of strengthened partnerships, mutual respect, and a vision for a collaborative future.
